One-night-only exhibition celebrating Turkish migration, heritage & community, alongside the launch of Emel Sevinç’s debut novel, Unhemmed.

Join us for a special one-night-only evening celebrating migration, community, heritage and the stories that shape London.

More Than a Bundle Story is an oral-history and cultural-heritage project preserving the experiences of Turkish-speaking migrants who arrived in Britain from the late 1960s to the late 1990s. Many worked as tailors, machinists, cutters and garment workers, contributing to London’s thriving textile and clothing industry while helping build the Turkish-speaking communities that are now an integral part of the capital.

Through photographs, recorded testimonies, personal memories and everyday objects, the exhibition brings these stories to life, exploring migration, work, family, sacrifice, identity and belonging.

The project gives recognition to a generation whose experiences have often gone undocumented, ensuring their stories are preserved for their children, grandchildren and future generations.

Curated by Emel Sevinç, More Than a Bundle Story was previously exhibited in partnership with Hackney Museum, receiving a warm response from visitors and community members.

A Double Celebration
The evening will also mark the launch of Emel Sevinç’s debut novel, Unhemmed.

Set within London’s Turkish garment industry, Unhemmed explores the lives, relationships and sacrifices of migrant workers and the cultural and generational experiences that shaped their families.

This one-night-only event brings history and fiction together, celebrating the real stories of a community alongside a novel inspired by the world they inhabited.

Come and experience the stories, memories and objects that form part of this important chapter of London’s history, for one special evening only.

Everyone is welcome.
