Make Your Mark: The Community Legacy Rug

For this year's festival, we've teamed up with Laoxa, a purpose-driven food and arts company from Tottenham founded by Lucy Ansa-Addois (fun fact: Lucy has performed at Glastonbury and Wireless!). As part of their Creative Ground programme, Laoxa are inviting everyone to help create a Community Legacy Rug inspired by the cover of Nick Sharratt's much-loved children's book, Shark in the Park.

Pop by and get your hands stuck in, whether you're a seasoned rug tufter or picking it up for the very first time, the Laoxa team will be right there to help you stitch a piece of book history into the artwork. Once finished, the rug will be professionally completed and permanently installed in a local primary school, along with an engraved plaque naming every person who helped make it.

They will also be showcasing the Yellow Telephone storytelling experience: a chance to pick up the receiver and leave a message for your future self. It's a lovely, low-key moment of reflection built to spark creativity, confidence, and connection.

While you're there, treat your tastebuds too: Laoxa will be serving up Ghanaian soul food built on four generations of home-cooked recipes, think jollof rice and grilled chicken, alongside edible art cupcakes that are almost too pretty to eat.

Meet the Vendors

A brilliant lineup of makers, artists, and small businesses will also be set up around Big Penny for the day.
