ABOUT BIG PENNY
Big Penny is a community-led hospitality and events company based in Walthamstow. Our flagship venue, Big Penny Social, is part pub, part arts centre, part town square — a huge, welcoming space where people come together for great food, drinks and a packed programme of comedy, live music, markets, parties and more.

In 2025, we also launched Flukes, a stylish competitive socialising space inside Big Penny Social, and we operate Big Penny Brews, our bar at London City Airport.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Marketing Manager is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of marketing activity across Big Penny Social, Flukes , Big Penny Brews and private hire. This is a hands-on role focused on coordination, accuracy and execution — ensuring campaigns, communications and platforms are up to date, on brand and commercially effective.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Brand & Marketing and the Senior Social & Content Manager, acting as a key day-to-day marketing contact for events, campaigns and key projects. While this role does not set overall brand or creative strategy, it plays a crucial role in making sure marketing plans are delivered smoothly and perform well. You’ll also have lots of input and ability to flex your creative and strategic skills managing some of our key channels and activities including e-comms strategy, ticketing and website

Websites, listings & ticketing

  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across website event pages and key venue information
  • Work with our web agency to continually improve the website, identifying opportunities to enhance user experience, customer journeys and conversion
  • Build and manage event listings and ticketing across DICE, our website and relevant third-party platforms
  • Work closely with our booking systems (BookedIt and Collins) to report on sales performance, track trends and improve customer communications
  • Keep the Flukes website up to date as required

Campaign delivery & performance

  • Deliver marketing campaigns across events, hospitality and private hire
  • Ensure campaigns are commercially focused and aligned with ticket sales, F&B and hire targets
  • Track performance and share insights with the Head of Brand & Marketing to refine activity

Email & CRM

  • Own day-to-day delivery of email marketing through Airship, including copywriting, scheduling and sends
  • Support smarter CRM activity through segmentation, targeting and audience insight
  • Build and manage triggered journeys (e.g. birthdays, highly engaged audiences, repeat attenders)

Design & assets

  • Produce simple, on-brand design assets using Canva or Adobe (posters, menus, signage and POS)
  • Coordinate larger creative projects with designers and suppliers
Manage print briefing, production timelines and final sign-off

Photography & content production

  • Book photographers for events and support the delivery of photoshoots
  • Project-manage asset delivery across campaigns, menus and marketing materials

Paid media & publicity support

  • Support the Senior Social & Content Manager with campaign briefing to our paid digital agency
  • Review performance reports and flag opportunities to optimise activity
Support PR activity by briefing publicists and reviewing press materials

In-venue & hospitality marketing

  • Coordinate in-venue marketing assets including posters, menus, signage and POS
  • Work with Operations to ensure marketing materials are installed and updated regularly
  • Identify opportunities to improve on-site promotion of food, drink and offers

Private hire marketing

  • Keep private hire listings up to date and commercially positioned with refreshed imagery
  • Work with third-party listing platforms to maximise visibility
  • Deliver year-round marketing activity for private hire in line with wider plans

Cross-team collaboration

  • Act as a day-to-day marketing contact for Events, Operations and Commercial teams
  • Support the Private Hire team with marketing activity
  • Keep delivery running smoothly through clear timelines, processes and communication
