Big Penny Social is a beer hall and event space in Blackhorse Lane near Walthamstow which showcases the best local beer, food and creators.

We are a high-volume venue open 7 days a week as a bar and workspace alongside hosting a range of weekly events including live music, sports and cinema nights.

The Role
We are hiring Supervisors to join the team. Alongside the Assistant General Manager, this role is responsible for managing the operations in a large high-volume venue. It will be in 3 monthly rotation, across bar, floor & BOH, so a great opportunity for someone looking to expand their management experience.

Part-time and full-time roles are available, weekend availability is a must.

You will be responsible for ensuring smooth service and excellent customer experience. We are looking for someone highly organised who thrives on logistics and has a passion for food and drink service.

Knowledge of Collins Booking Software would be a welcome advantage.

On-shift management of staff, opening and closing, ensuring site security and integrity; ensuring adherence to H&S guidelines, cleanliness standards.


  • Managing the service team, and ensuring that tables are receiving the best service possible.
  • Key holding and opening and closing of venue following company procedures and security protocols.
  • Ensuring bar set up/close down and service is to the highest standard enabling staff members to serve efficiently and deliver great customer service.
  • Ensuring all checklists are completed on a daily basis.
  • Managing staff on shift to ensure correct staffing levels.
  • Responsible for bar and venue cleanliness whilst on shift.
  • Managing refunds and menu updates on EPOS system when necessary.
  • Writing handover notes at the end of each shift for next Shift Manager.
  • Working with Assistant General Manager and BOH Manager to create and implement relevant staff training.
  • Liaising with Assistant General Manager to feedback on product quality and addressing in team meetings where required.
  • Participate in quarterly review with Assistant General Manager to review performance and procedures personally, of team and feedback on ways of working.
  • Collaborating on rotas with the other Supervisors.
