What We Do
Big Penny Social is a unique venue. We’re a pub, arts centre and town square rolled into one. We give people and communities unique experiences as a place to eat, drink and be entertained. We are open every day for a pint or a pizza, and we also programme a huge range of entertainment and events; from markets to comedy, live music, parties, and everything in between.

Who We Want
You will be responsible for ensuring smooth service and excellent customer experience. We are looking for someone highly organised who thrives on logistics and has a passion for food and drink service.

On-shift supervising of bar staff to ensure smooth running of service. Set up of bar stations and bar areas

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Team player who communicates well with all colleagues
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • Speed of Service (SOS)
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a genuine passion for food and beverage
  • Flexible and available to working both opening and closing shifts when required
  • Ensuring set up/close down and service is to the highest standard, enabling fellow staff members to serve efficiently and deliver great customer service
  • Ensuring all checklists are completed on a daily basis
  • Responsible for venue cleanliness whilst on shift
  • Participate in quarterly review with Bar Manager to review performance and procedures personally, of team and feedback on ways of working
  • Ability to challenge the status quo with an instinct for delivering the ultimate experience, especially when under pressure
  • Good employment history & experience in restaurant and bar environment
  • Ability to entertain & engage with Customers whilst serving drinks
  • Keen interest in hospitality, good product knowledge about spirits and classic cocktails, a desire to learn and develop with us
  • Great command of English – both verbalLY and written
  • Passionate and hard-working attitude
  • Ability to share and follow The Big Penny Social values
  • Ability to combine honesty, integrity, and reliability with a positive attitude
  • Ability to find solutions to and overcome challenging situations in The Big Penny Social manner with professionalism
  • Approachable, professional attitude with an eye for attention to detail
  • Ability to be constantly vigilant for opportunities to upsell and increase revenue for Big Penny Social
  • A clean, smart and professional appearance.
